Front End Work with Dojo Toolkit
Friday, November 7, 2008
Just a month ago Dojo 1.2 was released. I was following news about Dojo Toolkit since version 0.1 at 2005. Now at 2008, it reaches version 1.2.
I recently started a new job with front end work with Dojo Toolkit. I would have to dive deep into the source code this time. Perhaps even making code contribution to Dojo Toolkit. That would be very exciting. I have experience using open source software but never really know how code contribution works. From what I know so far, every open source project is different.
It is also a nice chance for me to develop heavily using Dynamic Languages like JavaScript. Coming from a background with more C/C++/Java then perl/python, “strongly typed” is my stronger point. It never hurts to balance things out. Besides, it is also around the time when JavaScript finally gaining traction for being a language that can do serious work. Instead of just a language for adding small “tricks” to a website.
